FORT Review intersects innovation and storytelling with new content series

FORT Review, a thought leadership platform that aims to strike a finer balance between timely and timeless ideas by producing cutting edge thought-leadership pieces, takes its next step forward this year with a new video series launching February 2018.

Covering an array of topics from Black Excellence to Erotic Capital, FORT will launch the content series at a VIP event at Rockets Rooftop. At the event, FORT Review contributors will make up three panels, discussing Urban Culture, Women in Business, and the Black Perspective in Advertising, moderated by FORT Review Editor Auryn Hiscock.

This edition of FORT Review features contributors from different backgrounds and encompasses a diverse range of industries, from advertising heavyweights such as creative director and Starved Magazine editor/founder Annie Raman and senior copywriter and DJ Neo Makongoza, the beverage and FMCG industry’s Vahith Baliram and Romy Townsend, to business women and entrepreneurs Mimi Thabethe and Anelisa Mangcu – as well as special appearances from Trevor Stuurman and Donald Nxumalo.

This edition of FORT Review is as diverse in its topics as it is in its contributors, bought to life in a nine part video series directed by FORT’s talented and up and coming director, Bongani Morgan.

The series will be made available on FORT’s website fort.co and social media @fortnetwork in the coming months.

Fort announces the launch of The Deeply Rooted Project

The Deeply Rooted Project: Bringing skills development and sustainability to the Coronationville and Riverlea communities, launched on Nelson Mandela Day and looks to raise R30 000 in the next 60 days.

The project is pioneered by two young South Africans passionate about uplifting their community in partnership with Fort, Thundafund and Brightest Young Minds.

The Deeply Rooted Project, stemming from the United Nations sustainable development goal no.12 of Responsible Production and Consumption, and a personal connection and passion for sustainable food consumption for their communities, Alysia Jacobs and Ashwin Roberts entered their proposal into Fort’s Hold the Fort competition in partnership with Thundafund and Brightest Young Minds.

The Deeply Rooted Project is a community based initiative where community members and residents will be provided with the correct knowledge and equipment to start “sidewalk fruit and vegetable gardens’ outside each home and on vacant land in the community, which can be accessed and shared by members of the community. The project focuses on the use of recycled materials in order to create low maintenance gardening systems, making use of cost effective methods such as the re-growing of discarded “kitchen scraps’ and propagating plants. Deeply Rooted is unique in that the process can be implemented into other communities for little to no extra cost through the process of propagation.

Hold the Fort is the sustainability arm of creative content and production network Fort, which focuses on various aspects of sustainability and social responsibility with South Africa. Hold the Fort in partnership with Thundafund, South Africa’s leading crowd-funding platform, hosted an event inviting students within the creative industry and giving them the opportunity to submit a proposal focusing on sustainability whereby they would receive the hands on guidance and assistance from Fort’s creative and production teams in bringing their project to life. The winning team also received in-depth assistance from Thundafund and coaching from Brightest Young Minds throughout the 6-week process of co-creating The
Deeply Rooted Project.

The Deeply Rooted Project launched on Nelson Mandela Day 2017, on the crowd-funding platform Thundafund aims to raise a total of R30 000 within the next 60 days in order to achieve the implementation of these garden’s to one hundred families across the Coronationville and Riverlea communities. Supporting these initiatives by the youth of our country will lead to a better tomorrow.
