First Wednesday Film Club presents “Run Lola Run’

What started out as an informal gathering aimed at local filmmakers in 2004, hosted by Atlas Studios and run by filmmakers John Barker and Ziggy Hofmeyr, has become a well-attended regular screening event, and a reputable launching platform for new films, curated by filmmaker Akin Omotoso and writer Katarina Hedren.

Today the First Wednesday Film Club’s reach extends far beyond the filmmaking community and includes a broader gathering of cinema lovers who are interested in watching films of all genres from across the world that usually are not available on the local circuit.

On 4 May 2016 at Atlas Studios the First Wednesday Film Club will air Run Lola Run:

Director: Tom Tykwer
Starring: Franka Potente, Moritz Bleibtreu, Herbert Knaup
Genre: Drama
Languages: German (English subtitles)
Year: 1999
Country: Germany
Duration: 81 min.
Age restriction: 18

Synopsis: Back and forth, forth and back three times is how Tom Tykwer’s classic from 1998 is told. The story is of Lola, whose boyfriend Manni is in deep trouble after losing a bag with money that belongs to a criminal. Unconditional in her love, the rebellious redhead runs to his rescue, literally stopping at nothing. Every time the story repeats itself, it changes a little, ending differently, not just for Lola and Manni, but for every person who ends up in their way as well. Run Lola Run was named the 86th best film of world cinema by Empire Magazine in 2010.
