The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has launched a Global Migration Film Festival which pays tribute to the many films that capture the beauty and challenges of migration – bringing these realities to audiences around the world.
The launch coincided with the observance of IOM’s 65th anniversary, on 5 December, and is being rolled out as a worldwide event with screenings in at least 50 countries. The festival concludes on 18 December, International Migrants Day.
The festival’s format is unique: IOM is providing a menu of films for which it has secured screening rights open to any cinema society, university film club, cafe or theatre wishing to take part.
The South African leg of the festival will be held at Atlas Studios in Johannesburg on 10 December 2016 from 11h00 to 19h30. Entrance is free and there is a cash bar throughout the day and secure parking.
