Netflix, the video streaming service provider, will be providing a distinguished feature, the offline mode, by the end of this year. The new feature will be added to the desktop and mobile apps of Netflix. Subscribers will have the option of downloading some of Netflix’s content (Netflix Originals).

Netflix Originals has a growing catalogue with Netflix partnering with various companies for investment into the production of its own series and movies such as House of Cards and Beasts of No Nation.

This new feature will actually be of great benefit for Africans. The limited broadband infrastructure and low internet connectivity available in the African continent (with an internet penetration rate of 29 per cent), users in Africa will have a great advantage. They will not have to always be connected for content viewing.
