IBC is calling its attendance figures a record breaker for its recently wrapped up 49th annual IBC show in Amsterdam.

It’s been announced that 55 796 people from more than 160 countries attended IBC over the course of the six-day conference. Organisers said the exhibition floor had around 1 800 exhibitors, with 249 of those attending for the first time. The more than 100 speaker sessions had 435 industry experts take part.

“IBC really is the only forum that attracts a global audience, the most comprehensive exhibition, and the best thought-leaders to spark the debate,’ said Michael Crimp, CEO of IBC.

New on the exhibition floor this year was the IBC IP Interoperability Zone, an exhibit that sought to push forward the open standards in new connectivity by demonstrating verified technical progress in IP interoperability.

Crimp says the organisation will continue to evolve and that next year’s 50th IBC should be even better, which will take place again in Amsterdam between 14 and 19 September 2017.
