SCREEN AFRICA EXCLUSIVE: The second evening of the South African Film and
Television Awards, presented by the National Film and Video Foundation, took place
at Gallagher Estate on Sunday 22 March where South Africa’s most talented
filmmakers and performers took home Golden Horn trophies for their outstanding
work over the last year. Four Corners received top honours, winning
the Best Film award – its third accolade of the night. The film also earned young
actor Jezriel Skei the award for Best Actor and Brendon Daniels the award for Best
Supporting Actor. The Bomb Shelter’s Isibaya and ZANews:
Puppet Nation, produced by Both Worlds, carried on their winning streak
from Friday night’s event with a further two awards each, including Best Director in
each of their television categories.
Accepting the Lifetime Achievement Award for 2015 was Marius Weyers, an industry
veteran who got his breakout role in The Gods Must Be Crazy.
The Best Director award in the Feature Film category was given to Donovan Marsh
for his film iNumber Number, while John Trengove, Jozua Malherbe
and Denny Miller took the Best Directing award in the TV Drama category for
Swartwater.
