On 30 May 2015 Switzerland hosts the first smartphone film festival – the Mobile
Motion Film Festival (MoMo) – a platform for films shot exclusively on mobile
devices such as smartphones, tablets, GoPro cameras or webcams. The festival is
accepting film submissions, which need to be entered before 31 January 2015.
The festival includes screenings, talks on mobile filmmaking and an awards
ceremony. The jury is made up of film and entertainment personalities and will give
awards in the following categories: Best Film (International), Best Swiss Film,
Young Talent, Audience Choice and Special Mention.
Festival director Andrea Holle says, “With MoMo we want to discover and promote
talent regardless of the available resources or relations with the film industry.
Aspiring filmmakers should be encouraged to use existing technologies and to
experiment with it.’
MoMo has recieved submissions from Bulgaria, Germany, Colombia, Denmark,
Egypt, France, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Nepal, New
Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey, USA,
Venezuela and Lebanon.
Guidelines and rules
• The film must be shot entirely with a mobile device (smartphones, tablets,
GoPro) which shoots HD video.
• DSLR, compact cameras or hybrid android cameras are not accepted.
• Multiple mobile devices may be used, no non-mobile footage may be included.
• Films must be no longer than 10 minutes (including any title or credit sequences).
Films longer than 10 minutes will not be viewed for submission.
• Foreign productions are welcome in any language, but subtitles in English or
German are mandatory.
• Any software to edit video and audio as well as colour correction or special effects
is allowed.
• Use of additional equipment (professional or home-made) is allowed, including
(but
not limited to) external microphone, wide angle lens, lighting, tripod, broom handle,
basmati cam.
• Copyrighted material is not accepted, unless there is a written permission to do so.

• The film must be an original production. It may not infringe on the copyright,
trademark or other rights of any individual.
• Films must have full clearance for all content, including music.
• No nudity, profanity, extreme violence or racist content is allowed.
How to submit
• The first round of entries must be submitted as a YouTube or Vimeo link. (If
behind a national firewall try Youku , or contact us.)
• If selected, the filmmaker must provide an uncompressed version of the film
either by mail or via ftp
