Splendit, a Belgian lighting and sound rental company, recently made use of 52 Robe LEDWash 300s to light the set of Normal People, a show featuring celebrity teams who are tested and assessed on their normality.
Splendit’s purchases as well as their rental stock is driven by what is requested by lighting and visual designers, DOPs and industry professionals. In recent years the company, headed by Marijn Broeckaert, made the decision to invest in Robe moving lights to further service their clients.
“Basically if people are asking for something … I will buy it,’ Broeckaert comments.
On using Robe products he says, “The products are very well engineered and definitely seem to be the most popular moving lights in the country for a whole range of shows at the moment. They are extremely reliable, which is always great news for any rental company!’
On the set of Normal People, the LEDWash 300s were rigged in the roof of the studio and used to illuminate the set which featured numerous elaborate props. Each was lit in different variations of white – warm white, cold white, green tinted white – an area in which Robe’s LEDWash series performs well. Treating the props in this way added depth and definition to the set on camera, heightening its distinctive look and quirky feel.
