Joe Public, Ogilvy & Mather and AAA soar at the Loeries

On 20 and 21 September 2014 the Loerie awards took flight in Cape Town, awarding
outstanding work in creative brand communications across Africa and the Middle East
at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

The agencies who took home the most awards were Joe Public and Ogilvy & Mather
while the AAA School of Advertising was the leading student group.

Creative agency Joe Public South Africa took home one Gold, three Silver, four
Bronze, one Campaign Silver, one Campaign Bronze, one Craft Gold and one
Campaign Craft Certificate, while global partner and communications design agency
Shift Joe Public took two Gold, one Silver, one campaign Gold, one craft Gold and one
Craft Certificate.

Executive creative director of Shift Joe Public, Maciek Michalski said, “Taking home
four out of 27 professional Gold’s awarded over this weekend is a true testament to
the exceptional, hard work our team has achieved over the last year.’

The Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) group took home 17 awards including the coveted Grand
Prix Loerie, which went to O&M Johannesburg’s “Give Me Strength’ radio campaign for
Lucozade. This win adds to the campaign’s list of international accolades, including
O&M SA’s first Grand Prix at the 2014 Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. The
Johannesburg and Cape Town offices together received seven Gold awards including a
Gold Craft award, four Silver and four Bronze awards, across radio, print and TV
categories.

O&M SA Chief Creative Officer Chris Gotz said, “The awards we won tonight are
categorical proof that we have a winning formula.’

In the student category the AAA School of Advertising received 13 awards: two Gold,
four Silver, six Bronze and one Campaign Bronze.

A total of 256 awards were handed out during the ceremonies, with an additional
three Grands Prix awarded to:

Grid Worldwide Branding (Pty) Ltd for Anti Est “Anti Est #Unlearn’, in the Design
Mixed-Media Campaign category.

One Kingdom Creative Studio for Mi-Fone “Oju Africa App’, in the Digital and
Interactive – Mobile Applications and Sites category.

FCB South Africa (PTY) LTD for Coco-Cola South Africa “A rainbow for the Rainbow
Nation’, in the Outdoor Media category.
