The new KFC Streetwise Two commercial highlights, by telling the true story of a
local hero, how those who are streetwise don’t accept the status quo but
rather, rise above it.
Thabisa Mkhwanazi, Marketing Manager for KFC South Africa says, “Our
Streetwise philosophy recognises and salutes our customers who represent a
savvy streetwise attitude which drives them to progress and succeed in life. This
commercial is not only about our Streetwise Two product, but it’s about saluting
those who are able to see opportunities in places one would never even
imagine they could be.’
Inspired by the Jozi style icon and jewellery maker Prince Thwala, who is known
as the Prince of Newtown, the ad tells the story of a young boy in Alexandra
Township who sees an opportunity to grow in his life through jewellery making.
KFC invited Thwala to the shoot, in honour of his journey. “I was happy that I
could be on set and even give direction. I love that my work is getting praised
and am grateful for the recognition KFC is giving me,’ says Thwala.
