Irish super band U2 will perform Ordinary Love from the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom at the 86th Academy Awards ceremony on 2 March.
The song, written in honour of late South African President Nelson Mandela, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category.
“It is a huge honour to have U2 invited by the Academy to perform Ordinary Love live at the Oscars. The performance will also serve as a tribute to the film and to Madiba who has been an inspiration to U2 for decades,’ comments producer Anant Singh.
In January, Ordinary Love won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.
The soundtrack of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is available nationwide in South Africa.
