The Encounters Documentary Laboratory, Close Encounters, through funding
from the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF), is initiating a Short
Documentary Film Project, My Hood, which will enable black and female directors
to produce a series of short films.
Talented, experienced emerging and established directors within the allocated
demographic will participate in a Close Encounters Documentary Laboratory
Workshop. Films produced through the workshop will premiere at the Encounters
Film Festival, which takes place in June 2014 in South Africa.
Only six directors will be invited to participate in the workshop with the intention
of developing and producing six eight-minute short documentaries with
worldwide appeal.
Script tuition, mentorship and support will be provided by a guest facilitator
during the workshop phase.
Applicants must must bring their own laptop and be available to attend the
entire workshop in Cape Town from Monday 17 to Friday 21 March.
Flights, accommodation and per diems will be provided
Submission requirements:
A one page synopsis and story outline, a one page directors treatment and
vision, a
two page CV detailing relevant experience and contactable references, one page
detailing a proposed team with names and roles, a one page budget outline of
no more than R60 000, a copy of recent film work (including complete short
films)submitted on DVD, or as a Vimeo or Youtube link. No clip show reels will be
accepted.
