From 24 February to 5 March 2014, Sonke Gender Justice Network, MenEngage
Africa, the Women’s Health and Research Unit of the University of Cape Town,
Steps for the Future and Witness are presenting a workshop in South Africa on
the use of film for gender equality and human rights.
The Media, Film and Gender Advocacy Workshop will run over eight days,
featuring guest speakers in the arenas of gender, health, human rights, media
and film. Leaders in their respective fields, these professionals seek to build a
network of organisations which use film to catalyse social change in Africa.
The workshop is fully funded and will include flights, meals and accommodation
for participating organisations.
The hosts are interested in finding relevant amateur or professional film
organisations, involved in making documentaries or digital stories, to attend the
workshop.
Interested parties need to send a letter of interest, detailing what films they
have made, attaching clips where possible, and motivate how attending the
workshop would be of benefit to them.
