The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) in conjunction with arts and culture
organisations, the Sharjah Art Foundation and Art Dubai presents Moving Images, an
initiative in support of artists and filmmakers from the Arab world.
The project comprising of discussions, screenings and specially-curated programmes
will continue throughout the following year and will feature at the Sharjah Art
Foundation and Art Dubai in March 2014.
Sheikha Hoor Al-Qasimi, president and director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, says:
“As the importance of film as a medium for artistic expression continues to grow, it is
critical that artists are able to find support at all stages in the process from the early
research and development of an idea through to the realisation and release of the
final work to an audience.’
Shivani Pandya, managing director of DIFF, adds: “Visual aesthetic is a crucial part
of cinema, with filmmakers using it to shape and create characters and worlds. Both
art and film are exceptional mediums for encouraging thought, presenting new ideas,
and inspiring audiences.’
Moving Images begins on 9 December at DIFF, where delegates can experience a day
of case studies and debate with renowned speakers and filmmakers.
