MTV (DStv Channel 130) is launching MTV Art Beat, a project designed to uplift, nurture and empower South African creative talent. MTV Art Beat invites existing or recently graduated design students to push their artistic and technical limits by creating a video clip or short film that embodies and characterises the MTV brand. Each clip must include the MTV logo in some shape or form, and illustrate one of the following themes:
· Smart and Fun is the New Rock “n’ Roll
· Super-Now and Fast Forward
· Warm is the New Cool
· Celebrate Heroes Big and Small
The MTV Art Beat competition is open to applicants between 18 and 25 who are students at South African tertiary education institutions or recently graduated students in South Africa who have been working in the broadcast / content industry for less than two years.
The top clips will be broadcast on MTV from Monday 2 September 2013, and the ultimate winner will receive a six-week internship at MTV HQ in Johannesburg, providing him or her with an opportunity to work and learn alongside well-known industry experts at the world famous multimedia brand.
Comments Tim Horwood, creative director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa: “MTV Art Beat is a unique opportunity for one talented individual to gain entry into the broadcast industry. It’s a real art to communicate the essence of a brand in just a few short seconds of video, and we are very excited to see how SA creatives respond to the challenge.’
The winner of the MTV Art Beat competition will be chosen by MTV and a panel of judges in the film, media, broadcast and creative industries.
