Hundreds of film and television personalities and local celebrities gathered at Midrand’s Gallagher Estate on Saturday, 16 March for the glitzy and glamorous Fiction Categories night of the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA).
4Play: Sex Tips for Girls blitzed the TV Drama Category by winning five awards – for best TV drama series (Quizzical Pictures), best director (Amanda Lane), best supporting actor (Pallance Dladla), best actress (Tiffany Jones-Barbuzano) and best writing team. (On 15 March at the SAFTA Technical Categories awards ceremony 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls won two awards – best costume design of a TV drama series and best make-up and hair stylist.)
In the Feature Film Category Material walked away with four SAFTAs – for best feature film (T.O.M. Pictures), best director (Craig Freimond), best actor (Riaad Moosa), and best supporting actor (Vincent Ebrahim). (On 15 March at the SAFTA Technical Categories awards ceremony Material won the best sound designer of a feature film award.)
