Leading the nominations in the 7th annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) is e.tv drama Sex Tips For Girls, which has received 10 nominations (including Best TV drama), and the Afrikaans comedy Semi-Soet, which has received eight nominations (including Best Feature Film), in the feature film categories.

Winners of the 2013 SAFTAs will be announced on 15 and 16 March at two glittering, star-studded ceremonies at Gallagher Estate, Midrand, and will be presented with the SAFTA Golden Horn Trophy.

Sex Tips For Girls is up against stiff competition from Erfsondes and 90 Plein Street, both SABC2 dramas, and SABC1’s Zone 14 and Soul City.

Semi-Soet is competing against Otelo Burning, Material and Die Wonderwerker (The Miracle Worker).

As with the previous years, the Best TV Soap category is open to the public to vote for their favourite TV soap. This year eight South African TV soaps will be competing for the Best TV Soap title, namely Isidingo (I), Generations (G), Scandal (S), The Wild (W), Inkaba (K), Muvhango (M), 7de Laan (7) and Rhythm City (R). To vote for their favourate TV soap, the public should sms the first letter of the title of the TV soap to 45242, standard sms rates apply. The voting line will open on 4 March and close on 16 March 2013 at 20h45.

The SAFTAs is the premier film and television industry awards and is held under the custodianship of the National Film and Video Foundation.
