The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Awards took place on Friday 1 February 2013.
Red Tails took home the top motion picture award, while Denzel Washington (Flight) and Viola Davis (Won’t Back Down) won lead actor and actress respectively.
Samuel L Jackson and Kerry Washington, both of Django Unchained, earned the best supporting awards.
Benh Zeitlin was named top director for Beasts of the Southern Wild while Zeitlin’s movie tied with Red Tails for best independent motion picture.
The Intouchables won for top international feature.
