Multi-talented director and writer Alan Parker will receive the Academy Fellowship Award, the most prestigious honour given by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAS).
Parker has won five BAFTAS for best TV screenplay (The Evacuees) in 1976, best screenplay (Bugsy Malone) in 1976, best directing (Midnight Express) in 1978 and best directing and best picture (The Commitments) in 1992.
The BAFTA Academy Fellowship award, which was first given to Alfred Hitchcock in 1971, is handed out annually “in recognition of outstanding achievement in the art forms of the moving image.’ Parker will receive the award during the BAFTA ceremony on 10 February 2013.
