AmberFin has introduced of group of new competitively priced file-based media ingest and transcode products that support the Digital Production Partnership (DPP) initiative. A leading technology contributor to the DPP initiative, AmberFin is the first vendor to introduce a DPP specific media file transcoder and ingest workstation.
Designated iCR-100-DPP (transcoder) and iCR-300-DPP (media ingest workstation), these new products reflect AmberFin’s aim of addressing the broadest range of media organizations with enterprise level solutions that are designed to meet their specific business needs. In the UK, these products are available through AmberFin’s channel partner ATG Broadcast.
Developed by the same expert team of software engineers that is responsible for all of the current AmberFin iCR portfolio, these new application specific products focus on DPP workflows and requirements. AmberFin has enabled key functionality from its broad portfolio of applications, increasing the products’ simplicity and therefore the user organization’s return on investment. Apart from their competitive price tags, these new products are characteristic in every other sense of AmberFin’s philosophy with the same support packages and clear upgrade paths as any other iCR product.
The iCR-300-DPP media ingest workstation and iCR-100-DPP transcoder are both designed specifically to create high-quality MXF-wrapped AVC-Intra or D10 assets compliant with the AMWA AS-11 specification and DPP guidelines from tape or line sources. Available as a standalone workstations or scalable enterprise solutions, both systems reflect a design that is optimized for easy integration and operation with proven interoperability in multi-vendor environments. The workstations offer clearly defined, documented and extensible APIs. They benefit from AmberFin’s Unified QC (UQC) approach, providing automated and manual quality control operation
A British broadcast industry initiative aimed to help broadcasters maximize the benefits of digital production, DPP is an industry collaboration that is led by ITV, BBC and Channel 4 with the active participation of Channel Five, Sky, S4C and the independent production sector.
DPP provides a framework that enables the UK industry to come together and share best practice in digital production and help producers and broadcasters maximise the potential of the digital revolution. Also, it leads the standardisation of technical and metadata requirements within the UK, helping to ensure digital video content can be easily and cost-effectively distributed to audiences via multiple platforms.
