The 7th annual SATMA Awards which promote, preserve, uplift, develop, stage multicultural exchanges and honour and award traditional musicians across racial and ethnic backgrounds, will take place for the first time in the Eastern Cape at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) on Saturday, 27 October 2012.
South African public broadcaster SABC is a media partner of this celebrated event themed, “My Culture, Your Culture, One National and All Roads Lead to the Eastern Cape’.

We welcome the opportunity to support the Awards that helps us to deliver on our mandate and to provide entertainment to our viewers and listeners. “Our involvement with the SATMA Awards is also based on the fact that we want to continue to promote South African Music and support and celebrate local talent. The SABC will, through its various radio stations and TV platforms, support the SATMA Awards.’

The Red Carpet event will start at 17h30 where VIP guests such as celebrities, traditional musicians and high ranking government officials will grace the Red Carpet.
Official proceedings commence at 19h00 with performances by some of the SATMA nominees and Icons and legends of traditional music. Winners for highly anticipated categories like Best Traditional DJ PBS Radio Station, Best Maskandi, Best Male, Best Female and Song of the Year will be announced.
