Life of Pi, the first 3D film from Oscar-winning Taiwanese director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Ice Storm), is set to open next month’s New York Film Festival and is the first 3D film ever to enjoy this honour.
Fellow Oscar-winner Martin Scorsese screened his foray into 3D, Hugo, at the same festival last year as a work in progress.
Lif of Pi is the story of an Indian zookeeper’s son called Pi who finds himself in the company of a hyena, zebra, orangutan and a Bengal tiger after a shipwreck sets them adrift in the Pacific Ocean.
Shot in Montreal, India and Taiwan, the film stars Suraj Sharma, Gerard Depardieu, Irrfan Khan and Rafe Spall. (Source: www.imbd.com)
