Inavate reports that the BBC is planning to deliver three-dimensional sound through radios and televisions to give listeners and viewers a “psychoacoustic’ experience, where the sound will be appear to be all around them.
Currently under development, the new technology is based on ambisonics, a surround sound system first developed in the 1970s.
Once developed the new technology will reportedly not need new radios and TV sets.
