Some 64 countries in Africa and Asia will be able to receive video sharing network YouTube’s live broadcast of the 2012 London Olympic Games (27 July – 12 August) and the Paralympics (29 August – 9 September).

African Business Review reports that 11 channels, all HD and all free, will be accessible to YouTube users during the two sporting events. This equates to 2,200 hours of coverage.

It is speculated that the broadcast rights deal is worth billions of dollars. This has yet to be confirmed by YouTube.
