South African public broadcaster the SABC will have an even greater presence at this year’s Rand Show from Friday 30 March to Sunday 15 April at the Expo Centre, Nasrec, south of Johannesburg, showcasing the creative side of the corporation as well as giving the public an opportunity to enjoy the broadcasting experience.
Among other things, the SABC TV and Radio stage will feature competitions, shows and broadcasts, giving visitors an opportunity to experience TV and Radio studios. The public is invited to the SABC stand to meet their favourite presenters such as Jam Alley presenters Twasa and Nepo , television celebrities such as Zone 14 characters Popeye and Spinach and Thembi Seete, presenter of SABC 1’s Jika Majika, which showcases Mzansi’s most outrageous styles of dance. Audiences at the SABC stand will be invited by Seete to display their dancing talent on stage.
SABC 2 will also showcase characters from programmes such as Dub, Takalani Sesame, School TV and Gospel Time, a show celebrating gospel music and the power that it holds.
Some of the highlights at the Rand Show will be the SABC Celebrity Show: Lake Stage. In line with all the tributes previously have hosted on the SABC stage, this year they will pay respects to the late Lebo Mathosa who performed on the SABC stage for a number of years. There will also be a look at all new shows on air at the moment and a performance by a guest musician.
The SABC Radio Stage will feature a performance by SkwattaKamp.
