After five weeks of release, the new South African films Semi-Soet (46 prints) and Material (40 prints) are still in the Combined Top 10 at the local box office. Semi-Soet was in the number four spot over the weekend of 16 to 18 March and Material in the number six spot.
To date Semi-Soet has made R6.3m and Material R5.5m.
New release and Best Film Oscar winner The Artist (20 prints) was released over the weekend and made R470,256, putting it into seventh spot.
Top spot went to another new release, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (95 prints) which made R2.1m.
In second and third spots were John Carter (including 3D which made R932,802 and new release Contraband (46 prints) with R704,917. (Figures supplied by SAFACT)
