New South African films Semi Soet (51 prints) and Material (41 prints) held onto their positions in the Top 5 over the weekend of 2 to 4 March. Semi Soet took the number four spot with box office revenue of R847,700 over the weekend, while Material was at number five with R817,943.
Both films were released on 17 February and their cumulative box office figures to date are Semi Soet at R4.1m and Material R3.8m.
Two international films that were shot in South Africa, Safe House (68 prints) and Chronicle (34 prints) featured in the Top 10. Safe House was at number three and has a
cumulative box office figure of R6.9m, while Chronicle made the number 10 spot and has amassed R1.5m to date.
The biggest earners over the weekend were Ghost Rider 2 (including 3D) (83 prints) and This Means War (73 prints) which made R1.2m and just over R1m respectively. (Figures supplied by SAFACT.)
