South African films Material and Semi Soet remained in the Combined Top 5 at the South African box office after two weeks of release. Material (41 prints) was in the number three spot over the weekend of 24 to 26 February, having made just over R1m over the three days. Semi Soet (64 prints) made the number 5 spot and amassed R984,337 over the weekend.
Both films were released on 17 February and their cumulative box office figures are: Material – R2.7m and Semi Soet – R2.8m.
Two new releases made the number one and two spots over the weekend – Ghost Rider 2 (including 3D) (83 prints), which made R1.8m, and This Means War (73 prints), which made R1.3m. In fourth spot was Safe House (68 prints), which made just over R1m and was shot in South Africa. After three weeks of release Safe House’s cumulative box office is R5.6m.
Chronicle (40 prints), which was also shot in South Africa, was in the number eight spot over the weekend. Its cumulative box office after two weeks is R1.1m.
