South African public broadcaster SABC has announced its media partnership for the 4th Annual SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards, to take place at the ICC Arena in Durban on 6 November.

Says SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago: “We are highly encouraged by the continued growth of the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards. Gospel music represents one of the most popular genres across the SABC platforms both on radio and television, especially with SABC1’s youthful audience. The channel’s association with the Crown Gospel Music Awards reflects this natural attraction.

“The majority of Mzansi’s gospel artists are drawn from the ranks of the youth of Mzansi, and our channel prides itself as the custodian of Mzansi’s rich youth culture. This channel is a national platform available to them to showcase their creative talents.’

SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards are a platform to salute and award excellence in the Gospel Music Industry. The Awards are hosted with a spectacular event of music and dance. Winners are given a symbolic crown used as a metaphor for the real crown that Gospel musicians hope to get at the end of their journey – in heaven. The SABC Crown
Gospel Music Awards will air on SABC1 on Sunday 4 December 2011 at 8pm.

SABC will also be supporting Crown Gospel Awards through its other various platforms including radio and other TV programmes.
