The Government Information Office of the Republic of China (Taiwan) hereby invites South Africans to participate in a photo contest based on Taiwan. Entitled, ‘Say Hi to Taiwan with Your photo and Win a trip’, the online contest is aimed at getting local people to download their pictures of Taiwan. This is done in an attempt to capture the idiosyncratic experiences of travellers to Taiwan, when they photograph the beautiful scenery, delicacies, malls, and people of Taiwan.
The contest consists of three phases. During phase one contestants (or groups of contestants as it is open to groups as well) upload the photos they feel capture Taiwan’s dynamic appeal. From October 18 until November 21 these can be uploaded at the Taiwan E-Government Portal at www.taiwan.gov.tw.
Phase two is the public adjudication stage, where netizens will vote online to decide which cities and counties will host the contest winners. This phase runs from 21 to 30 November. Three teams deemed to have the most creative photos will then win a NT$4100 000 travel allowance for a trip to Taiwan.
During the third phase of the contest (12 to 19 December), the winning teams will tour Taiwan. They will act as ‘reporters’ for the Taiwan E-government Facebook page during their stay, by posting daily travel notes and reflections.
At the end of the three winning teams’ trip to Taiwan, monetary prizes will be awarded for “best content”, “best photo” and “highest popularity”, of an amount of NTS$30 000 per category.
