Jasco has announced that Eckart Zollner was recently appointed as the new business development manager for NewTelco South Africa, a joint venture between Jasco and Germany-based New Telco GmbH.
NewTelco SA is housed within the Jasco Group’s Co-location Solutions business unit and offers a carrier neutral co-location service that provides carriers with a centralised telecommunications hub or ‘market place’ where they interconnect with any other carrier who has a presence in that market place.
Zollner was ideally suited to the position as he has garnered more than 15 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry. His career in this sector started with his appointment at the public networks division of a large telecommunications enterprise where he installed digital telephone exchanges and was involved in the first analogue mobile car phone network.
He then moved into a sales and marketing role for mobile networks and was active in telecommunication product distribution across Africa.
His experience across multiple sectors within the telecommunications industry, as well as his passion and dedication with the start-up of business initiatives, will serve him particularly well in his new position. Carrier Co-location and hosting services form the centre-piece of a diversified solution offering at Jasco and therefore Zollner will operate across a number of business areas within the group.
"As part of my responsibilities I am charged with developing new business relationships and generating sales leads. I am also responsible for responding to tenders, managing the sales processes and reviewing and developing strategic direction for the business," explains Zollner.
Together with Zollner’s expertise in this field, NewTelco SA is currently targeting local and foreign carriers and ISP’s by offering interconnect services with networks and enterprise customers with hosting services such as archived media content. NewTelco SA is also working on an expansion strategy of their services into sub-Saharan Africa, where Zollner’s experience in this region should stand him in good stead.
Zollner will also leverage the synergies between the newly structured verticals and business units within the Jasco Group.
