A good example of a major systems integration project undertaken by Timbre
Broadcast Systems is the work done for Malapati Productions.
Says Timbre’s Armand Claassens: “In my opinion Malapati is the king as far as
mobile outside broadcast (OB) rigs are concerned. We are currently running 20
Panasonic AG-HPX372 cameras in three different rigs, two of which are running
the Tricaster 850 Extreme, which is a complete live production system with ISO
recorders.
“Timbre has interfaced the cameras with full remotes over a hundred metres.
We have also modified the cameras and the system to run dual Tally lights and
can record on the cameras, as well as the Tricasters, at the same time as an ISO
recorder.’
Providing turnkey solutions for broadcasters, audio and video post production
houses, Timbre offers a fully equipped workshop and provides service support
down to component level.
“We also design studios and build specialised equipment to integrate systems,’
says Claassens. “To date we have built, designed, maintained and installed
more than 2 400 studios and facilities.’
A shortlist of some of their clients include Urban Brew, VWV Group, Curious
Pictures, HD in Motion, Omage, Learning Channel (SABC), Foghound Studios,
Audio Arts, Sonovision Studios, Rhema TV, Rapid Blue (eight-camera HD OB), Red
Cherry (10-camera HD studio), Spiritword (five-camera HD studio) and Zambia’s
second broadcast channel, among many others.
Timbre is a supplier of various equipment manufacturers which are used in their
systems integration. These include Newtek, Panasonic, Focus Enhancements,
Yamaha, Sennheiser, Apple Mac solutions provider, Kramer, Astroscope, Matrix
Switch Corporation, Azden, Dynacore and Mackie. It also provides independent
advice to ensure that clients have the most appropriate and cost-effective
solution for their particular requirements.
