Young entrepreneurs and talented performers from Gauteng will flock to the Maponya Mall in Soweto for the Mzansi Magic Market Day on Saturday 3 September.
Mzansi Magic Market Day is building on the success of its predecessor KTV Market Day, but for the first time Gauteng kids between the ages of seven and 15 will sell their original, self-created products to the public at a bustling flea-market, or wow the audience with their energetic performances on stage, at Maponya Mall.
The action will start at 10am until 2pm when the winners will be announced.
M-Net’s CSI Manager, Palesa Xorile invites both young and old to support South Africa’s future moguls and superstars on Saturday morning. “Mzansi Magic Market Day is the culmination of many hours of preparation, hard work and learning how to create a successful business for these kids. Now it’s our turn to boost the confidence of our future movers and shakers and put that stamp of approval on their bright ideas and willingness to learn and use their skills in a positive way.’
For M-Net’s CSI division, M-Net Cares, Mzansi Magic Market Day was the ideal opportunity to teach children from all backgrounds how a creative idea can transform into a profitable venture.
As part of the call to entry for the Mzansi Magic Market Day event, M-Net Cares held crafts workshops across the country. These workshops gave kids an opportunity to get some ideas on what they could create for Market Day and also to showcase examples of what they had already started working on.
Young moguls from across the country and future superstars alike, heeded the call to submit their entries for the competition and it was evident in the workshops and mall activations that were held prior to the main event that South African kids have brains, business acumen and talent surpassed by none.
There is also a huge cash incentive – the regional winners earn R1,500 in cash and the national winner takes home R20,000.
