The Republic of China (Taiwan), through its Assistant Representative in South Africa, Charles Ou, has announced the launch of a month long exhibition at the Vereeniging Library as from 20 May. Titled “Retracing Our Steps – A Photo Journey through 100 years of the ROC’, the exhibition forms part of Taiwan’s centennial celebrations.

Taiwan’s development over the past century has been digitally chronicled for exhibition purposes so that the nation’s transformation and diversity, creativity and tolerance are shown through the lenses of various photographers. The visuals will accurately reflect the blossoming of an agrarian culture into a world leader in technology.

All facets of Taiwanese life, ranging from politics, agriculture, technology and the environment will be displayed at the exhibition at no cost. Visitors are sure to gain a better insight into the picturesque Republic of China.

The choice of the Vereeniging Public Library (outside Johannesburg) as venue is so that this cultural exchange can be appreciated by a wider grass roots community.
