The South African films, Jann Turner’s Paradise Stop (8 prints) and Elan Gamaker’s Visa / Vie (1 print), are both on the local circuit this week. Paradise Stop has been on release for six weeks and has made R1.9m.
Released on 29 April, Visa / Vie made R3,745 over the weekend. Both films are distributed by Indigenous Films.
The biggest earner over the weekend was the new release, Thor (including 3D) (89 prints), which made a hefty R4.7m. In second spot was another 3D release, Rio (R1.4) (73 prints) and in third spot, Russell Brand’s Arthur (40 prints), which made R821,083.
