TechCentral reports that South African Airways (SAA), which has hitherto banned the use of mobile devices during flights, is now testing the use of cell phones in flight mode together with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to see whether the phones cause any interference.
To date SAA has maintained that mobile devices interfere with their aircrafts’ on-board systems during flights.
