Ticket sales for The 33rd Annual Loerie Awards open in mid April and exciting changes are promised for the Festival Weekend in Cape Town.

The Festival Weekend will take place from 16 to 18 September 2011, with the awards ceremonies being hosted at a new venue, the Cape Town International Convention Centre, on Saturday 17 September and Sunday 18 September.

“This year we are bringing the Loeries more in line with international festivals. The awards ceremonies will be black-tie affairs – with red-carpet treatment and a focus on the award-winning work. Slick and entertaining, each night will start at 7pm and run for no longer than two hours. And, of course, the legendary partying spirit of the South African industry will not be forgotten – for the first time, we will be hosting The Official Party, which will kick off at the same time as the awards on the Sunday evening and will include a live feed,’ says Andrew Human, CEO of the Loeries.

Tickets to the awards ceremonies have been limited to 1,500 per night and an additional 1,000 tickets will be available for The Official Party. Ticket prices have been structured so that agencies can afford to send most staff and clients to the awards while agency juniors will be able to attend the party at a reduced price.

The Official Party will be at the Fez near the CTICC. Junior agency staff can go straight to the Fez to watch the awards on the live link, while everyone attending the awards will be able to join the party as soon as the last statue is handed out.

The party will be an opportunity for everyone in the brand industry to get together in one place – something that agencies and marketers have been asking for – and will include a line-up of live acts and top DJs.

On the Saturday evening, everyone not attending the awards will be able to view the winners on a live link to a local cinema. After the awards on Saturday, agencies will host private parties in town.

“We have received feedback from our major industry bodies, including the Creative Circle, Commercial Producers Association, Brand Design Council and the Association for Communication and Advertising and everyone agrees it will be better to have all the agency functions on the Saturday and one official party on the Sunday,’ adds Human.

The Loeries has launched a new electronic booking system and tickets can be purchased through the website (www.theloerieawards.co.za).  All information regarding ticket prices and booking information can also be found on the website.

Creative Week Cape Town Programme:

Following the successful launch of Creative Week Cape Town in 2010, the Loeries will again be the main focus of the week. Creative week CT will run from 9 to 18 September and more information can be found at www.creativeweekct.co.za. The week will be a showcase of Cape Town’s creativity in design, music, film, digital media, fine arts and crafts.

Mayor’s Welcome function, Battle of the Bands and more

Once again, registration for all delegates will be at the Grand Daddy Hotel. The festival weekend will be officially opened with the Mayor’s Welcome on the Friday evening, followed by the Battle of the Bands.

The Student Portfolio Day will be held again on the Saturday morning, followed by a day of networking along the Camps Bay strip. Book your agency lunch and start working on your invitation to the legendary Velocity party now.

Saturday evening

The first night of the Awards will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, followed by agency parties.  Associated Magazines will be hosting a party to celebrate the winners of the evening.

Sunday evening

The Sunday night awards ceremony will start at the same time as The Official Party at The Fez, with the awards being broadcast live to the venue.

The Fez is a five-minute walk from the Convention Centre and shuttle services will be running between the two venues.
