South Africa may be lagging behind in the IPTV stakes but there are apparently 45 million IPTV subscribers worldwide. Research from TeleGeopgraphy shows that IPTV accounts for about 10 % of the entire telecom services provider market.
Europe makes up 40% of the total IPTV base and within that France accounts for 23%. The Asia Pacific region is at 35%, while China and US each have 16%, followed by South Korea with 8% and Japan with 4%. (Source: Advanced Television)
