TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris were announced the winners of the first-ever gold Pendoring for Truly South African Radio at the awards ceremony held on Friday, 29 October 2010. The winning advertisement, a radio spot for the client, Doom, entitled Funeral, Tatollo, was written by up and coming young talent Kamogelo Sesing, who previously won the first-ever gold Loerie for vernacular radio in the New Voices category in 2009.

The Pendoring Advertising Awards were established in 1994 with the aim of promoting and rewarding outstanding Afrikaans advertising. This year has seen the first addition of the Truly South African category to recognise and award advertising excellence across all 11 official languages.

Kamogelo Sesing, Copywriter at TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris comments, “Who knows, we could soon see a Cannes Radio Lion for an Afrikaans or Setswana spot thanks to awards shows like this.’

Damon Stapleton, executive creative director of TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris comments, “This award demonstrates the power of an idea when it’s conceptualised and activated in its original language, and not translated. This opens the market up and allows us to create relevant and unique South African advertising solutions.’
