Recently the UK coalition government announced that as part of its austerity measures, the UK Film Council would be abolished in April 2012. This lead to the resignation of the UK Film Council CEO John Woodward just on a month ago.
This week Woodward was appointed managing director at European media venture capital company Arts Alliance. He will take up his new position as chairman of both Arts Alliance and digital provider Arts Alliance Media in November.
Woodward’s job will be to identify new investment and business opportunities for the privately owned investment group which has founded a number of media businesses, including online European film and TV subscription service Lovefilm.
Arts Alliance Media is digitising Cineworld’s screens in the UK, and the London-based Met Film School.
