Local production music company Red Igloo Music has announced the acquisition of local rights for two highly respected production music catalogues from the UK, namely Deep East Music and Altitude Music.

Starting with just two labels five years ago, Red Igloo CEO Fred Woods has continued to build his company by sourcing and acquiring innovative and high quality music catalogues.

“Red Igloo has grown to become the leading source of production or “mood’ music on the African continent, says Woods. “The company now offers more than sixty of the finest production music catalogues from around the globe.

“Production music has come of age, and the concept and perceptions of the genre have undergone a dramatic change over the past five years. Whereas production music was once considered to be cheap and cheesy, and was seen as a low budget option, this is certainly no longer the case, and production music libraries are now usually the first port of call when content producers need music.

“Piracy and online file sharing has decimated the global music industry, and brought some of the biggest players to their knees. Production music is the one area that has not been adversely affected by these factors, and the sector has shown consistent growth year on year,’ says Woods.

Red Igloo offers the original trailer music for many blockbuster movies, music that was produced at Abbey Road, music that features Robbie William’s brass section, music that comes from the composers of some of the most successful television and movie themes in the world, and all at production music rates.

Woods believes content producers should not cut corners on music for their productions.

“I believe that music plays a major part in any production. If you’re planning to produce content that is going to compete on an international level, creative and technical quality is paramount, and the cheaper route simply does not make sense’
