Clearly every single South African teenager went to the cinema this past weekend to ogle good-looking vampires as the third in the phenomenally successful Twilight series, Eclipse, took an astounding R11.7m over the period 2 to 4 July.
This bumped Toy Story 3 (including 3D) into second spot (it now has a cumulative box office of R14.3m after two weeks) and the South African comedy, Schuks Tshabalala’s Survival Guide to South Africa to third place. The latter has made R29.4m in six weeks, again proving the box office power of its star, Leon Schuster.
