Sharon Waxman of The Wrap reports that in the last few months, three major Hollywood studios have cancelled projects, a sure sign of these recessionary times.
Universal has canned Cartel which was just about to shoot in Mexico, reportedly over concerns that the film wouldn’t make its modest $42.5m budget. The studio has apparently been given strict instructions not to overspend.
Sony has decided not to go ahead with the big budget fourth installment of Spider-Man. Disney has cancelled the sequel to the John Travolta/Tim Allen/Martin Lawrence hit, Wild Hogs.
