The long expected emergence of a Google TV platform is reported to be a step closer. Google and Intel have teamed with Sony to develop a web TV service for connected TVs and STBs. They all aim to introduce a systems what will make it easy for TV viewers to use Web applications in the same way they would change to another channel.
Google intends to open its TV platform, which is based on its Android operating system for smartphones, to software developers. Google is expected to deliver a toolkit to outside programmers within the next couple of months, and products based on the software could appear within the next few months.
