The new South African comedy, Jozi, made R334,706 in its opening weekend (26 to 28 February) at the local box office. Jozi was directed by Craig Freimond and stars Carl Beukes and Lionel Newton. It was in 10th spot on the combined Ster-Kinekor, UIP & Nu Metro Top 10 for that weekend, as well as being the second best-performing UIP release.

Meanwhile, the other South African film currently on circuit, White Lion, continues to perform well and has amassed R597,492 after two weeks of release. It was number 4 on the Ster-Kinekor Top 8 during the above weekend.

The almighty Hollywood 3D epic Avatar now stands at a humungous R53m on the local box office, and this after 11 weeks of release.
