Infamous Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski (The Piano, Rosemary’s Baby), currently under house arrest in Switzerland, has won the Silver Bear as best director for The Ghost Writer, at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Polanski is under house arrest while the Swiss judicial system considers the legalities of his extradition to the US over his conviction of having sex with a minor in 1977.
The Ghost Writer stars Pierce Brosnan, Ewan McGregor and Kim Cattrall.
