Tickets for the both the Johannesburg and Cape Town opening nights of the Out in Africa (OIA) South African Gay & Lesbian film Festival will be sold as a fundraising drive at R100 a ticket. OIA runs in Johannesburg at Nu Metro Montecasino from 3 to 13 September and in Cape Town at Nu Metro V&A Waterfront from10 to 20 September.
Legendary South African satirist and comic Pieter-Dirk Uys will be a speaker at both opening night events.
The festival opens with the 2007 Spanish feature Spinnin’ (6 Billion Different People) by Eusebio Pastrana. This is the Spaniards at their wacky best – an exuberant award winning film set in Madrid.
V2 Experience will host the pre-festival party, while Citrus Lounge and Clique Events will host the end of festival party.
