Over 70% of Waterfront Studios’ clients are based in North America or Europe. With this in mind Waterfront recently secured a Chief Technical Officer from Los Angeles. Jonathan San Juan (Jon-Jon) is an IT Engineer who has specialised in post-production over the past 15 years. He comes to South Africa with a wealth of knowledge and experience, most recently from Digital Rapids in Los Angeles. Digital Rapids supplies critical encoding tools for the post-production industry worldwide.
Prior to Digital Rapids, he was the Technology Manager at IVC Digital Film Center (International Video Conversions). At IVC, he enhanced their technical services and efficiencies in digital workflows/ designs and restoration processes, improved their networks in evolving data-centric post environments, and worked with new media, SD/HD editing and data transport offerings.
San Juan joined Waterfront in April and settled in by conducting a comprehensive audit of the entire Waterfront Studios network. He will overhaul and update the facility’s technological backbone – without disrupting services – to deliver better service, improved efficiency and greater reliability.
