Public broadcaster SABC has laid a complaint of theft against Mail and Guardian following the newspaper’s posting of a SABC documentary on political satire on its website this week. The documentary includes an interview with political cartoonist Zapiro and features his controversial cartoons of President Jacob Zuma.
The SABC has twice prevented the documentary, which was produced for its investigative magazine series Special Assignment, from being broadcast. On 27 May, viewers who tuned in to watch the programme will have seen a notice saying the episode could not be shown as due process had not been completed. (Source: Business Day)
