Cult American filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, who won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1994 for Pulp Fiction, will have his new film in competition at this year’s event which runs from 13 to 22 May in Cannes, France.
Inglourious Basterds (yes, that is the correct spelling of the title) stars Brad Pitt and is set in Nazi-occupied France during World War II. A group of Jewish-American soldiers known as "The Basterds" are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis.
The film stars Samuel L Jackson (Pulp Fiction), Diane Kruger (Troy, Goodbye Bafana) and surprisingly, Mike Myers (Austin Powers franchise). This will be the film’s world premiere.
